Executive committees (6 to 10). Kinshishi in Naha serves Kin Agu pork shabu-shabu only in private rooms (up to 16 in the largest); bookings close at 5pm the day before and there is no free-flow drinks plan. On Ishigaki, Ishigakiya's rooms for 8 to 10 keep the conversation private around an Ishigaki beef grill (room charge ¥550 to ¥1,100 per room).
Groups of 20 to 40. Ishigakiya brings a group of 20 to 40 together by booking several neighbouring rooms. In Naha, the upper floor of Yotsutake Kume has eight 12-seat rooms that combine for up to 48 facing the stage. On Kokusai-dori, Captain's Inn serves a single group menu from 7 guests (booked the day before) and runs a free hotel shuttle from 15 guests.
Groups of 80 and more. Ryotei Naha seats up to 350 in its third-floor hall, with Ryukyu dances, a banner with the company name, karaoke and bingo on request. Yotsutake Kume adds a 200-inch screen for an on-stage awards ceremony. On the west coast, The Grill hosts 200 facing the sunset over the East China Sea; on Ishigaki, Kitauchi Farm Hamasaki can be booked exclusively from 50 guests and Aguya gathers 70 around a sanshin live show.
Season and timing
- During typhoon season we keep an indoor room in reserve, such as The Grill's 184-seat dining room rather than its terrace, and build slack into connections to Ishigaki.
- The Grill normally closes on Mondays and Thursdays but can open for a group.
- Ishigakiya closes on Tuesdays; Kitauchi Farm's hours vary by season.
- Many Sakaemachi bars close on Sundays, so the crawl runs on a weekday, early in the evening.
