Executive committees (6 to 10). Ryotei Kawabun, where the G20 foreign ministers dined in 2019, serves kaiseki in six private rooms for 2 to 20, most with chairs; book at least two business days ahead. On the 52nd floor of the Nagoya Marriott Associa, the French restaurant Mikuni Nagoya has a room for 5 to 12, and Sky Lounge Zenith hosts a welcome drink without leaving the station.

Groups of 20 to 40. Torigin seats groups in the rooms of Torigin Fugetsu and Torigin Kiraku, a few steps from the Honten, for a Nagoya Cochin dinner of up to 40. Ryotei Kawabun's Shinyotei room (10 to 40) has the best garden view. In Sakae, Yabaton Sakae Matsuzakaya is one of the few branches of the chain that takes reservations, with four private rooms totalling 42 seats.

Groups of 80 and more. THE KAWABUN NAGOYA and Ryotei Kawabun share the same Marunouchi grounds: a conference in The Ballroom (150 theatre-style), then an Italian banquet for up to 128 or kaiseki in the Mizukagami no Ma for 90. For a relaxed evening, Sekai no Yamachan Honmaru lets you run a seminar in Honmaru Hall (100 seats, 4th floor) followed by a tebasaki dinner on the 2nd floor.

Timing and constraints

  • Atsuta Horaiken only books its kaiseki menus, by phone, at least three days ahead, and takes no bookings over New Year, Golden Week, Obon or long weekends.

  • At Sekai no Yamachan, tables are limited to 3 hours Sunday to Thursday and 2.5 hours on Fridays, Saturdays and the eve of holidays.
  • Sky Lounge Zenith requires smart casual dress and admits no under-20s after 5pm.

Frequently asked questions

Which Nagoya restaurant takes the largest group?

THE KAWABUN NAGOYA in Marunouchi: its five rooms seat 15 to 128, and The Ballroom (150 m²) takes 150 theatre-style. On the same grounds, Ryotei Kawabun's Mizukagami no Ma hosts 90.

Where can a group try Nagoya specialities?

Hitsumabushi at Atsuta Horaiken, near Atsuta Jingu shrine; kishimen at Miya Kishimen Ihyoe; Nagoya Cochin chicken at Torigin (up to 40); miso-katsu at Yabaton Sakae Matsuzakaya (an 18-seat room); tebasaki at Sekai no Yamachan Honmaru (a 60-guest hall).

Are halal or religious diets catered for?

Yes at Ryotei Kawabun, which adapts its menus to allergies and religious restrictions (halal, Hindu and others) on request. Miya Kishimen Ihyoe also accepts various restricted diets; for other venues we send each restriction ahead.

What budget per person should we plan?

About ¥3,000 to ¥4,800 for a kishimen course at Ihyoe, ¥6,490 to ¥15,400 for kaiseki at Torigin, ¥8,000 and ¥13,000 for dinner courses at THE KAWABUN NAGOYA. At Ryotei Kawabun, dinner kaiseki costs ¥22,000 or ¥33,000 including service; banquet plans start at ¥8,000.

How far ahead should we book?

At least two business days for a Ryotei Kawabun room, three days for kaiseki at Atsuta Horaiken and for a weekend lunch at Ihyoe. For a banquet at THE KAWABUN NAGOYA, we hold the room as soon as the date is set, avoiding the periods when Atsuta Horaiken takes no bookings.
