Izakaya — Okinawa

Aguya (sanshin live & Agu pork shabu-shabu)

An izakaya in central Ishigaki, five minutes' walk from the 730 intersection and the entrance to Euglena Mall, combining Yaeyama island cooking with a sanshin island-song live show twice a night. The specialty is shabu-shabu of Ishigaki Agu, a rare Ryukyu pork bought directly from a farm on the island, sliced to order and served with broth, shikuwasa ponzu, island vegetables, mozuku seaweed and island tofu. The room, one of the largest on the island, is shoes-off and mixes tatami, sofa and chair seating for up to 70.

Corporate use

The festive dinner of an Ishigaki incentive: the group dines together in a single room for up to 70, the best seats in front of the stage are booked early, and the show often ends with kachāshī, which the whole room dances with raised arms. The mood is lively and loud, not suited to a meeting or long speeches: plan thank-you words before the first set. The restaurant does not publish a buy-out package, and other guests share the room unless specially agreed; we set a menu and drinks package in advance and confirm show times, which vary. Within walking distance of the hotels in town and by the port.

Private rooms & private hire

No private rooms: one large shoes-off room for up to 70, mixing tatami, sofa and chair seating. The tatami seats right in front of the stage go to whoever books first.

The menu

A sharing menu built around Ishigaki Agu shabu-shabu: belly, loin and lean cuts to compare, a bonito broth and house shikuwasa ponzu, with mozuku seaweed, shredded island vegetables and island tofu. Around it, Yaeyama staples: sea grapes, jīmāmi peanut tofu, salted island shallots, rafute pork belly, mozuku tempura and Ishigaki beef croquettes. To drink: Orion beer, Yaeyama awamori and sours made with fresh Ishigaki pineapple.

Frequently asked questions

How many guests can it take?

Up to 70 in the main room, seated together across tatami, sofa and chair seating.

Will the group have the room to itself?

Not by default: no buy-out package is published and other guests share the room. For a large group we raise it with the restaurant when booking.

When are the sanshin shows?

Two shows every night, at times that change from day to day: we confirm them with the restaurant and time the group's arrival accordingly.

Are there dishes without pork?

Yes, several Yaeyama dishes contain no pork (sea grapes, jīmāmi tofu, mozuku…), but no vegetarian menu is published: we pass on dietary needs in advance.
