Frequently asked questions
Can the trip coincide with Comiket, AnimeJapan or Tokyo Game Show?
Yes, with precautions. Comic Market is held twice a year at Tokyo Big Sight, in August and late December (the winter 2026 edition is announced for 29 to 31 December): hundreds of thousands of visitors, queues of several hours and full hotels around Ariake and Odaiba. Tokyo Game Show takes place in September at Makuhari Messe (Chiba), with trade-only days. AnimeJapan, usually held in March at Tokyo Big Sight, moves to Intex Osaka for 2027 and 2028. We book hotels 9 to 12 months ahead, favor Shinjuku and run the visit in small supervised groups.
Can the Ghibli Museum in Mitaka be included?
Hardly for a group. Entry is by advance reservation only, with tickets released on the 10th of each month for the following month, limited to 6 per buyer, non-refundable, and the buyer must be present at the visit. Slots often sell out within minutes. We can try for a small group, without guarantee, and always plan an alternative such as the Kadokawa Culture Museum.
Can guests dress up as famous characters?
Studios rent anime-style and generic costumes, and guests can bring their own. However, we do not promise licensed characters or any brand presence: the rights belong to the publishers. For photos meant for company communication, we recommend original or generic costumes and check image usage terms with the studio.
Can guests walk around in costume or take photos in shops?
In Japan, cosplay mostly happens in studios and at dedicated events; changing in public or riding transit in full costume is frowned upon. We therefore keep costumes at the studio and hotel. In Akihabara, Nakano or Ikebukuro shops, indoor photography is often forbidden: our guides remind guests of the rules and photo missions take place on the street.
Does the program suit guests who are not into manga?
Yes. The drawing workshop requires no experience, the Kadokawa Culture Museum also appeals to architecture and book lovers, and each day has an alternative: sumo, tea ceremony, cooking class or shopping in Ginza. Taking part in the costume contest is optional.
