Banquet halls — Tokyo

Happo-en

A Shirokanedai event estate built around a Japanese garden of roughly 33,000 m² dating back to the Edo period. It holds around ten banquet halls, including the Hakuho-kan pavilion with its 144-tatami main room, and the Kochuan ryotei, set in the former villa of industrialist Fusanosuke Kuhara, where every private room looks onto the garden.

Corporate use

One of Tokyo's most complete venues for a Japanese gala dinner: a reception in the garden, then a seated dinner in a hall sized to the group, from 66 to 450 covers. The cultural experience menu (tea ceremony, makizushi, ikebana, calligraphy, kintsugi, taiko, samurai session) lets a workshop and dinner run back to back on site. For a board or client dinner, Kochuan has private rooms for 2 to 40 guests. No accommodation on site: plan a transfer from the hotel (about 5 minutes by taxi from Shinagawa).

Private rooms & private hire

Hakuho-kan, booked as a whole: 150 guests seated Japanese-style, 120 at a plated dinner, 130 for a reception. Garden floor: Mangetsu (450 dinner, 600 reception), Fugetsu (160 / 250), Meigetsu (128 / 250), Hakou (120 / 180), and the whole floor plus courtyard can be privatised. 2nd floor: Kioto and Akari (100 each), Maki (66). 3rd floor: Washi (160 / 250) and Takeniwa (80 / 90). At Kochuan, eight rooms for 2 to 40 guests: Matsu (15–40), Botan (10–24), Fuji (8–16), Sanshuyu (6–14, sunken kotatsu), Kiri and Momiji (2–10), Satsuki and Sakura (2–8).

The menu

At Kochuan, an eight-step seasonal kaiseki (sakizuke, starter, clear soup, sashimi, grilled dish, main, rice, fruit) built on Rishiri kombu aged one to three years, plus a sukiyaki using Japanese produce. The chef also composes an omakase kaiseki on request. For banquets, Japanese, Western or buffet menus are quoted per event, with a dedicated kitchen for Hakuho-kan.
