K36 The Bar & Rooftop

A bar and rooftop on the top floor of The Hotel Seiryu Kyoto Kiyomizu, the former Kiyomizu Elementary School built in 1933 on the Kiyomizu slopes. The open-air terrace gives a panoramic view of Kyoto and a close-up of the Yasaka pagoda (Hokan-ji); indoors, The Bar occupies a former classroom. Corporate use

The welcome aperitif or the last drink of a Higashiyama evening, at sunset facing the pagoda. Buyouts are arranged directly with the bar; the terrace closes in bad weather, so keeping The Bar as a fallback is wise. Smart casual dress required.

Private rooms & private hire

No private room: two spaces, the open-air K36 Rooftop and the indoor K36 The Bar. Buyouts on request with the venue; capacity not published.

The menu

Signature cocktails, whiskies (Japanese in particular), champagnes and a wine list, with sharing plates on the rooftop. Open 15:00 to midnight, last food order 23:00.

Frequently asked questions
